Perspectives on Microsound

Diapason Gallery presents current perspectives on the idea of "microsound"- a technical term and also a musical genre - in honor of the 10th anniversary of the .microsound.org mailing list (founded by Kim Cascone). 10ms features multi-channel installations, sound objects, performances, lectures, texts, and other media.

Microsound is a term that encompasses explorations of sound on a time scale "shorter than musical notes." It includes and overlaps genres such as glitch music, granular synthesis, lowercase sound, etc.

MELA Foundation's Studio View presentation of Jung Hee Choi’s recent works, Ahata Anahata, Manifest

Unmanifest II, has been extended for one additional week.  The exhibition will be open Thursday through Saturday, September 17 – 19, 2009, from 6 pm to midnight, in the MELA Dream House, 275 Church Street, 3rd floor, New York.  Ahata Anahata, Manifest Unmanifest II features three multimedia installations, a series of drawings, videos and a sound environment including her new installation work Composition 2009 #1 created with needlepoint drawings on black wrap with video. Viewers experience the drawings as indiscernibly moving light from video projection glowing through the pinholes creating abstract and analogous representation of Manifest Unmanifest.

Will Corwin, Crushed to Dust, 2005

Will Corwin is an artist and curator from New York City, recently based in Beijing doing a residency with the Red Gate Gallery. He has curated visual art exhibitions for the AugustArt art festival in New York and the Flushing Town Hall in Queens, a Smithsonian Affiliate. He has shown at the LaMama Gallery in NYC, Gallery Aferro in Newark, and has done site-specific projects with chashama and the Theater for the New City in New York, The Taipei Artists Village, Taipei, and Red Gate Gallery and the Pickled Art Center in Beijing.
