Victoria is a principal of hanrahan Meyers architects (hMa) who specialize in architecture that relates to the natural world through simulating natural processes. hMa's architectural projects include Ojai Festival Shell, depicted below, that feature natural processes including sound and light. The Ojai Festival Shell relates to Nature through hMa's studies in biomimicry and wave forms. For more information about hMa and biomimicry and design, visit the firm's website: www.hanrahanMeyers.com, or their architectural blog, www.blog.hanrahanMeyers.com.
hMa collaborates with artists, including sound artist, Michael Schumacher. hMa's sound collaborations lead to unique architectural solutions that incorporate sound and sound waves in unique ways. hMa's new Battery Park City Community Center, for example, will incorporate sound wave studies from Michael Schumacher, as well as a sound installation of Mr. Schumacher's work.

Iannis Xenakis: Composer Architect Visionary
January 15 – April 8, 2010
Opening Reception: Thursday, January 14, 6-8 pm
Iannis Xenakis: Composer, Architect, Visionary will explore the fundamental role of drawing in the work of Greek avant-garde composer Iannis Xenakis (1922–2001). A leading figure in twentieth century music, Xenakis was trained as a civil engineer, then became an architect and developed revolutionary designs while working with Le Corbusier. Comprised of over 60 documents created between 1953 and 1984, this will be the first North American exhibition dedicated to Xenakis’s original works on paper. Included will be rarely-seen hand-rendered scores, architectural drawings, conceptual renderings, pre-compositional sketches, and graphic scores. Curated by Sharon Kanach and Carey Lovelace.
